No VPN after sleep...

Hi,

I have this problem with all my new W8 boxes. It seems that this was also a problem with W7. In short, after my W8 has been sleeping, the VPN says that I'm not connected to the internet. Restart Explorer fixes it, but really....there must be some correct way to solve this?

Hi,

What VPN program did you use?

Try to right click Computer---manage---device manager---network adapters---right click the NIC card---properties---power management---remove the option allow the computer to turn off this device to save power

Hi Leo,

That option is already disabled. I use the VPN within Windows 8. If I shutdown Explorer.exe and then restart it, the VPN is enabled again.

Hi,

VPN will disconnect after sleep, that seems a by design behavior.

You need to disable sleep mode, or make a task schedule to reconnect VPN.

I have this same problem and it has been there since always in old Windows versions, now still on W8. Ii occurs when I have used VPN and forget to disconnect and just close my laptop so it goes to sleep or hibernation. Then when I want to re-connect an hour later it is not possible. Not even after a restart.

The VPN-servers have been Cisco and Clavister with no difference in this behaviour.

What seems to Work for me in W8 now: Whenever the connection isn't possible, I just open "Network and Sharing Center" -> "Change adapter settings", and then right click and disable the connection. Then enable it Again. Now the connection is ready for VPN Again - at least this Works for me everytime so it seems...
