Not working Auto-Negotiation on network card.
I have a strange problem on notebook. My network card is not working if i set "Speed & duplex settings" option inAuto-Negotiation mode (it's by default). I have a message that network cable is not connected. But if i choose any othervalue (Autonegotiate for 100FD, Autonegotiate for 100HD, Autonegotiate for 10FD, Autonegotiate for 10HD, 100 Mbps Half Duplex, 100 Mbps Full Duplex....) all work correctly. Why Windows can not detect any mode? All of themare working, but Windows can not choose any one? What reason is in this?(Driver? Windows? Hardware?)Note is conneceted to Gigabit Switch, card is 10\100 Mbts. Windows Vista Home Premium.

Hi,
Please understand that the negotiation is controlled by the driver of the network adapter on the system and the Switch, but it is not controlled by the system. Based on my experience, some adapters drop packets while automatically negotiating the settings of the network. I suggest performing the following actions to identify the issue:
1. Install the latest driver for the network adapter and check the result.
2. Check whether the negotiation works properly by connecting another computer to the Switch. If none of the computers can automatically negotiate the setting of the network, I suggest contacting the Switch manufacture for further assistance.
3. If it is only this specific computer that encounters this issue, you can contact the network card manufacturer to check it.
Thank you for your understanding.
