Nuttsy Network Problem
A club recently bought a new HP desktop computer running W7 for use of a volunteer. He requested they also buy a router to allow him to use his wireless laptop running VISTA. They bought a Netgear Ng router. The desktop connected to Internet and showed the laptop in the Network and Sharing Center. However, the laptop would not connect nor show the desktop. I got a call to help and went over and took a VISTA laptop I had and it connected properly immediately. I checked virtually everything, did numerous restarts , etc to no avail. I then brought their laptop back to my home and it connected to my neighbors unprotected networks immediately and once I supplied my 128 hex security it connected to mine as well. I felt the problem might be related to the router because the laptop is an older b/g adapter circa 2007( I could not find any updates for adapter Atheros AR 5007) so I recommended they return router and get a pure g but it didn't change the issue. Any thoughts???

You may want to upgrade the NIC driver also. Anther option is assigning static IP instead of using DHCP.
