Odd problem with Wireless Network dropping connection
Lately I have been having a problem with randomly losing connection to my wireless network. This started about a month ago. The odd part about it is that the problem is fixed almost instantly by bringing up my wireless connection status window. In fact, Windows never says that I have lost connection. Web sites will suddenly fail to load, or I get dropped from a game server. My connection acts like it is completely lost, and never fixes itself. However, I bring up the status window, wait 3 seconds, and it works again. I can go for days without a drop if I just leave the status window open. If I close it, about an hour or so later, the connection will drop again. I realize a simple solution to this is to leave the status window open, but I figured there must be some explanation for this. I have searched far and wide for a more permanent solution, with no luck. Any ideas? I'm running a Linksys WRT310Nv2, and connecting to it with a WUSB600Nv2. Windows 7 Ultimate x64. I don't think this would be a hardware problem, but I have not tested the wireless adapter on any other system since this happened. Thanks in advance!

Hi There can be few reasons for such behavior. Wireless router SSID (Broadcasting) is off. If this is the case switch it On. Signal interference from other Wireless sources. Change the Transmission channel of the wireless router to another channel (you can try all the 11 channels and choose the one that provides the best result). Some wireless card Power saving is a little "Quirky" Try to take the wireless card out of the Power Saving loop. There is Power Saving setting in Windows advanced power setting, and in the Wireless card's properties configuration. http://www.ezlan.net/Win7/power_save_win7.jpg Jack, MVP - Networking.

Thanks Jack. Due to the nature of the problem, I will want to make sure the connection is stable for multiple hours before I come back and say it's fixed. The router SSID was indeed on. Signal interference sounds promising because the channel is set to auto. I will play around with it and report back. The power saving option really sounds like my best bet, so I will try that first. Thanks again!

Almost a day later and not a problem yet! I think it's safe to say that turning off the power saving option for the device has fixed my problem. Thank you for your support, Jack!
