Offline File Sync over a VPN
I have a folder I sync with my laptop while on line on the LAN, and everything syncs fine once I connect my VPN when I'm not on my LAN, however the issue I'm having is after I complete my sync I am still not able to access the mapped drive that folder
is on while connected with the VPN, this was the case also with Windows XP but once I successfully sync my files I was able to access all files on the mapped drive, Windows 7 is not allowing me to do that, any suggestions to resolve this?

Hi,
To make this issue clear, I would like to confirm the following information:
1.
What is the error message when you failed to access mapped drive?
2.
Where does your share folder locate?
3.
What is the result if you access the shared folder via UNC path directly?
I am looking forward to your reply.

Okay I successfully sync my offline files, when I try to open a file on that mapped drive (not one that is used ofline) it gives me the error message is: File is not accessible you might not have permission to use this network resource the file is not currently
available for use on this computer.
I can not access the mapped share using the IP address, however I can access all other shares available on this server using the same IP. Yes I do have the proper permission to access the files I am the Domain admin, another interesting feature is
the files in that mapped driver are not even visable until I drill down to the folder just above my root syn folder, so the path is \\xx.xx.xx.xx\shared\folder\sync_folder I see no files or folders under the root of the mapped drive which is \\xx.xx.xx.xx\shared
but if I drill down to \\xx.xx.xx.xx\shared\folder I can see all files under that directory but they have an x through them.
As I stated earlier in windows XP there was no problem opening any file once I successfully sync the ofline files, I'm using the exact same ofline files, same drive letter for the mapped drive and same VPN client and configuration.
The offline status once syn is: "offline slow connection" so I imagine that has something to do with it.

Hi,
According to your description, the cause is that the file is not currently available for use on this computer.
Could you find
Work online on the toolbar in Windows Explorer when you finish your sync process? If
so, try to click the button to check the result.
Also, try to disable the "Configure slow-link mode" for Offline Files:
Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Network\Offline Files\Configure slow-link mode
Hope it helps.
