On Vista basic, Recover wireless network security key
Using Vista basic on a PC laptop. I set up and ran a secure wireless network configured with a WPK-2 security system. I chose a password for this configuration and network hook up went fine. A short time later my operating system crashed and all files were lost. It was a couple of months before I was able to have my computer repaired and Vista basic installed. When I hooked up my internet cable, modem and router, I noticed my network still showed up and was able to use it without providing my pass word which I don;t remember. I have a new desk top with wireless adapter that I'am tying to set up connection using the network I set up on my laptop. When attempting connection, I'm required to provide the wireless network pass word which I can not recall. Is their a way to locate the original password I first used in the set up?

Hi Log to the Router's menus, change the Wireless security password, log again with the Wireless using the new password. You Router's manual should explian it if you do not remember how-to. Jack, MVP-Networking. EZLAN.NET
