Only 2 GB of RAM Shown in Windows 7; have tried all common solutions.
Hello, Sorry to bother you on this fine morning, but i have been having this problem for a long time! Before upgrading to the RC of Windows 7, My Windows Vista Premium only showed 2GB of my 4GB of installed RAM. (2x2GB RAM Sticks). Upon upgrading to the release client the problem was still there, and despite trying several solutions, mainly to do with the Memory Hole remapping ( i have tried this on all the combinations it could have been and the problem is still there)! Im just wondering if there is another way to get Windows 7 to use all 4 GB of my RAM. Following is my System information as Windows sees it. Wolfy - Welp... The simplest, most obvoius question - does the motherboard's BIOS see all 4 GB? If it doesn't, it's definitelya hardware issue. If this is the case, then you can try the usual things - pulling both sticks out, insert one stick at a time, boot and see if the memory registers. If one doesn't register - it's likely a dead stick of RAM. Ifboth register individually, make sure both sticks of RAM are firmly and correctly installed on the motherboard. IF it still doesn't register both, try the other slots (assuming your motherboard has 4 or more slots). One of the sockets on the motherboard may be bad. You may need to exercise your warranty if that's still applicable. If the BIOS does see all 4 GB, then yes, we may have an issue that needs to be tracked down.Let us know what you find...

Did you make sure the RAM is properly seated on the board? Sometimes if it is not seated properly, the system will be unable to recognize it.Hello! Please try every solution given to your problem...and reply back with its results...Click here for my thread on Win7 min. requirements - JoelbX

To add one thing: As opposed to other cases, "memory remapping" will not serve you in your special config. Think only of the fact that virtual memory (pagefile) is usually set to 1.5-2 x the installed RAM. What are your values showing? 1459 + 2635 = 4094 MB. That looks like exactly 2 x 2048 (well, nearly). So, we must assume that the rest of your 4 G is simply not seen by Windows, because BIOS doesn't report it.Mobile AMD64 3000+, VIA Apollo K8T800 chipset, 1 G RAM, ATIRadeonMobility 9700, 20x DVDRW, C:XPSP3 (55G),D:WIN7 (25G),F:DATA (250G)
