But it give IP to my XP with the same hardware(I have dual OS) and to the other computer with Vista installed. There is something wrong with the Windows 7 that make the router to not respond.

I am assuming that your hardware is enabled and running, and that all correct drivers are installed. If you had installed drivers for your WLAN devices. It might have installed but it is not properly injecting the software. Download or obtain the lastest drivers; "vista" if possible, and then right click and do a comp. troubleshoot install.JohnWL

The first step should be to go into device manger and determine if the network card was installed correctly. This will be observed in the device manger properties, by either seeing the device listed under the proper section with a normal icon, or if it was not recognized by the Windows 7 driver database it may be listed under an unknown device section with a yellow explanation icon by it.Once you determine that, report back. Give us a screenshot of your device manager screen if you think there is an issue so we can see it.Shon

Now it works with my DLINK 510 WLAN card but the FA311 did not get any IP. I deleted every NIC device and installed it again then it works with the 510.

I'm having the same problem with an FA311 and a SB5101 cable modem. Not getting an IP. It works when I hook up the modem through USB, but is very slow. How do I assign a static IP in Win7?

All I did was go into internet options and uncheck "Autodetect settings" in my lan settings and all is well. Hope this helps others.

Same issue.I'm running the 64 bit version of Windows 7 beta, and my networkadapter is an Atheros L1 gigabit on an ASUS motherboard. This all works fine with XP and 64 bit Vista. The only way to fix it is to enable/disable the adapter via 'control panel - network and internet - networksharing center -change adapter settings'.Unplugging and plugging the networkcable sometimes helps. But any method I use generally needs to be repeated several times, but not always, andsometimes it does come up fine on its own. I've tried disabling IPV6, QoS, Client for MS Networks - I'veeven tried hard coding my gateway's IP address- nothing makes any difference. I've installed the latest drivers for the adapter as well. Things get stuck at "identifying", andI am left with an unusable "limited connection". I have of course configured the network as a "home" type network. I've also tried modifying my registry to avoid the 'business network logon'- no joy. This is no upgrade but a clean install on a separate hard drive. I use the motherboard'spopup boot menu to select the drive that has either XP or Win7 on it. There is only one network configured, so no conflicts...

To set a static IP address, open the Control Panel, and then the "Network and Sharing Center". Select "Change adapter settings". When that opens, highlight the adapter in question and select file\properties or "Change the settings of this connection".Why do they have to make this so hard? I used to be able to get to this point with two clicks.Whenthe properties pagefor the adapter opens, select the TCP.IPv4 line and click properties. There you can clear the autoconfiguration box and set the address. Tab to subnet mask to have it fill in the default. Fill in the DNS and Default Router addresses, and click OK enough times to close the configuration and Control Panel windows. You can use the values that XP came up with. Do ipconfig /all from a command prompt in XP.You don't have to reboot even though it will probably tell you you have to.At this point, I would go to my command prompt and ping the router, try a nslookup on an external dns address such as microsoft.com, and do a tracert to an external address. If it tests out ok, you can try going back to autoconfiguration. I like to set the alternate configuration to the same values as the static addresses used above.
