Options tab missing from file properties in Windows 7
I just moved to a new Windows 7 64 bit computer from a Vista 32 bit. I have a file that has an "Options" tab in the file properties in Vista. When I copy the file to my Windows 7 computer the "Options" tab no longer displays in the file properties. If I copy the file back to my Vista machine it displays the tab. Is there a setting in Windows 7 that is disabling access to this tab? The file extension is .AS4 and is used with IBM AS/400 Client Access.

Hi, I would like to verify whether the “option” tab only appears on .AS4 file properties. I have checked the other common files (doc, exe, wim, mp3, rar, txt .etc), there are no option tab on file properties. This issue can be caused by file compatibility issue. Can you please kindly share a .AS4 file for me? So I can troubleshoot the problem in my machine. In addition, I would strongly suggest you to contact IBM to check if whether any update version of this file is available to make it work with Windows 7. Leo, I have only seen the “option” tab on this particular type of file. IBM released a new update to this software last week. I downloaded and installed the latest update and still had the same result on my Windows 7 64 bit computer. I was able to test this problem on a Windows 7 32 bit computer today and the problem did NOT occur. How should I send you a copy of the file? Thank you for your assistance.

Hi, You can use Windows Live SkyDrive (http://www.skydrive.live.com/) to upload the file and share its URL with me. And as it works well on Windows 32 bit, it seems the file compatibility issue. The files which created on 32 bit PC will have problem when running it on 64 bit PC. Furthermore, please check the program of IBM is compatible with Windows 7 64 bit or not. Also you can create the file on 64 bit pc then run on Windows 7 64bit for test. Hi Leo Below is a link to the file. This file was created on my Windows 7 64 bit machine. http://cid-f1b121460da9f968.office.live.com/embedicon.aspx/AS400%20Files/System%20Name.as4 IBM's website indicates that it is compatible with both 32 bit and 64 bit version of Windows 7. Hi, I have downloaded your AS4 file, and can’t find “Option” tab on both Windows 7 32bit or 64bit. That’s strange. As you said it works well on you Windows 7 32bit PC, could you please get a screenshot of the “Option” tab within file properties? Thanks for your cooperation. Hi Leo, I have posted the file of the screen shots at the same address as above. There are two screen shots. The first screen shot is of the file properties as viewed from my Windows Vista 32 bit computer. The second is of the same file as viewed from my Window 7 64 bit computer. The file was on my Windows 7 64 bit computer at the time of both screen shots. I hope this helps. Thank you!

Hi, Thank you for your update. I have tested on both Win 7 32bit and 64bit, the same result. There was no “Option” tab on properties. That’s seems the file compatibility issue. I suggest you asking IMB for further help. Thank you for your understanding.
