Outlook Express Problems
Outlook Express is not allowing me to "Drag & Drop" emails into their appropriate files I've set up in OE. I can "Move" files by going to "Edit", then selecting "Move to folder", and that works fine, but I cannot highlight an Email and "Drag & Drop" into a folder. This just occured 36 hours ago. Also - If I "open" a link" in an email, it will not open the weblink. The screen remains "blank" and does not show content. Can anyone help me?1 person needs an answerI do too

There may be two different issues. Start with the drag & drop and we'll go from there. Create a new Identity and see if that one allows you to drag & drop. You may have a damaged identity especially if it is the default Main Identity. File | Identity | Add New Identity. Create a new one and test it. If all is well, you can import your messages and Address Book from the old identity and delete it. Note: Do not use the word Main in the name of the new identity. No dice. Would upgrading to OE 7 or 8 change this problem?

There is no OE7 or OE8. OE6 was the last version made and all production of OE ceased in June, 2006. Windows Live Mail is the successor/equivalent to a new OE.If you haven't rebooted, do so now.Did the link issue start at the same time?Download and run this tool,Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.40http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html Bruce Hagen MS-MVP [Mail]

The link you gave me will not open and when I type it in my address bar, that too will not open. What now?

Did you type it in, or copy/paste?My gut is telling me Malware. What version of Internet Explorer are you running? What anti-virus program? If you Google Malwarebytes, can you get to it that way and download it? Bruce Hagen MS-MVP [Mail]

I had to go to another link on the web and got malwarebytes and down the test and bought their software. It supposedly cleaned up my computer, however the problem still persists with email and now my internet explorer is acting up. When I "Click" on links, either in OE or IE the secondary image will not appear on screen. The window stays blank. When I click on a link in an email, it goes to an IE window with no content in it. These two problems have to be related. Should I reinstall IE? Will that override the old download and cause it to be repaired, or will that just exaccerbate the problem?

There was a freeware version of Malwarebytes there. V: 1.44.<Repost>What version of Internet Explorer are you running? What anti-virus program?OE is part of IE6 and there is no real way to reinstall without reformatting your machine, as IE is a part of XP. There is a repair method, but you have to uninstall SP3 and IE7 or IE8, and it usually doesn't do a bit of good. I would try this first.Courtesy of MVP Frank Saunders (RIP). If you get a blank page when you click a link in an e-mail: 1. Click Start, and then click Run. 2. In the Open box, type: regsvr32 urlmon.dll 3. Click OK, and then click OK again when you receive the following message: DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll succeeded. 4. If that doesn't fix it, see this article: http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/answers/26.html 5. If you are using WinXP try this:http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/reg/IE_Default_Browser.reg You can also try this: Go to Start/run, and type SFC (msconfig for WinXP).Choose 'Extract One File From Installation Disk' ("Expand File" for WinXP).Type oleaut32.dll, not worrying about its location. Then, click Start. Next to 'Restore From', type in or browse for the file's location, which is probably in the Win98 (i386 for WinXP) folder of your installation CD-ROM (typically D:\Win98), or in your Windows\Options\Cabs (Windows\i386 for WinXP) folder, as the case may be. Then, next to 'Save File In', enter C:\Windows\System (C:\Windows\System32 for WinXP), and click OK. System File Checker (or msconfig) looks for the file, saves it as you requested, and then tells you that 'the file has been successfully extracted'. You may need to reboot. Bruce Hagen MS-MVP [Mail]
