I recently downloaded Internet Explorer 8, now in my Outlook Express when I get mail that has a link in it, it will not open the link. i have to right click copy and paste the link. i have checked all the settings I can think of. this worked before just fine.1 person got this answerI do too

hi..when i saw your note about unchecking the dde code & the box shortened i thought that was the action & thats all..but it did work for some reason ! thanks so much .. esp as MS have stopped support for XP & wanted to charge me $60 for a tech!!!who are these people!!!?? hasnt he got enough money .. with the charitable work he does do doesnt charity begin at home & with his customers!? ..as raffi4.. its nice that someone like you takes the time to help us !! thank you .. :)

Your solution worked perfectly -- but only for the first Outlook Express hyperlink I tried it out with. When I clicked on a second hyperlink in another email, nothing happened. I went back to the Control Panel and repeated the steps delineated in your solution to see if any of the settings had changed. When I got to URL:Hypertext Transfer Protocol with Privacy, I saw that there was a checkmark in the Use DDEbox. I once again removed it.I figured that the problem had to be an incorrect setting in one of the Services, so I quit out of Control Panel, right-clicked over the My Computer icon, and selected Manage from the menu that appeared. In the Computer Management window that opened, I double-clicked on Services and Applications and then on Services. Then I scrolled down to Network DDE. The Startup type was set to Automatic and the Service was running. I closed the Service, and changed the Startup type to Manual. Apparently, this setting was undoing your solution. I then opened Outlook Express and went through 15 or 16 different spam e-mails, happily clicking the 'unsubscribe' link at the bottom of each one. They all opened in Internet Explorer. Over the years, many of us have had major computer problems stemming from incorrect services settings (like the Network DDE settings mentioned above). There are over 100 services on my computer. The reason I knew which one to look at (other than the fact that there's only one other one that has 'DDE' in its name), is that about a month ago I was having problems with my internet connection. Although the technician I had waited over an hour to speak to told me the problem was caused by a temporary power outage, he wanted to ask me a few questions about my computer configuration 'to prevent future problems' (as if I was the one who had caused the power outage). One of the 4 or 5 questions he asked was about my Network DDE settings. He told me to change them to the settings I described to you.Many companies that employ hundreds of underpaid, overworked phone-support technicians to deal with the same problem over and over again don't care if their proposed solution is likely to cause other, often more serious problems down the line. I honestly don't know if disabling the Network DDE service is a good idea or not.2: Unsubscribing from a well known business, (i.e. you were getting offers from a store like Office Depot after making an online purchase), is fine and usually works.Unsubscribing from a spammer simply tells them that your address is indeed an active address and the spam will keep coming. (Although they really don't care if an address is legit anymore).Try re-registering these dlls and see if that helps with the links issue.Start | Run | type, or Copy/Paste, these in one at a time and try again.
