Overriding environment variables does no longer work?
In XP, I could override, say, the environment variable "UserName" in the "System Properties"/"Environment variables". (Thus in a cmd window I would get my value, not the actual windows value).This does not work in W7. Why? Is it a bug?

Have you tried right-clicking Computer > Properties > Advanced System Settings > Advanced Tab > Environment Variables at the bottom, click on USERNAME and then Edit?
