May be asociated with Adware:Win32/opencandy included in the installer package of some software, Microsoft Security Essentials detects this as low level threat but "nag ware" is a possilble resultalong with some tracking. http://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/Threat/Encyclopedia/Entry.aspx?name=Adware%3aWin32%2fOpenCandy&threatid=159633It has been reported as a false positive by one poster in MSE forums, http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/msescan/thread/f24e69ee-d6c7-4c11-a463-92bf55a5c074But there are opposing opinions, this blog below which includes a list of software having Open Candy reported to Feb 19, 2011, http://cranialsoup.blogspot.com/2009/05/opencandy-new-kind-of-adwarespyware.htmlAnd there's also CNET(owned by CBS)who have a software updating application(CNET TechTracker)OpenCandy and now perhaps consider it an issue. http://cranialsoup.blogspot.com/2009/05/opencandy-new-kind-of-adwarespyware.htmlThis s not a major threat as it now exists but anyone downloading software who does not use MSE should consider uploadit to virustotal.com before installing, http://www.virustotal.com/If a file contains Adware:Win32/opencandy theyshould check with the developer/manufacturer to try and obtain a version without it.
