Hello Hellsfortune, Provided you are able to turn the computer on, I would suggest doing a system restore to a point in time before you started experiencing this problem. Go to Start Point to All Programs > Accessories > System Tools Select System Restore Select 'Restore my computer to an earlier time' and then hit next Pick a restore point from the options available and then hit next Let your computer reboot and restore files If you areunsatisfied then this can be reversed by going back to system restore Ifyour PC is unable to boot then shutdown your computer and hit the F8 key while booting up. Enter SafeMode with Command Prompt andenter the following at the command line to start the system restore utility: "%SystemRoot%\System32\Restore\rstrui.exe" - Please omit the quotations.Formore information on system restore please visit the following KB article:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306084Regards,Max

Hi Hellsfortune, That is no good. Not to worry there is a way around everything ;) What you can do is repair your installation of Windows XP. This will not touch your files/folders but will restore any broken points in the XP installation which is causing you to have this error. Pop your Windows XP CD into the drive Set your BIOS to boot from Optical Disk Drive (this function key will depend on your manufacturer, look at the options that you are given while booting up) Press any key to boot from CD Wait for Windows to finish loading the setup files Press enter to install a fresh copy of Windows (you are not going to format) Press F8 to accept the license agreement Scroll down to your Windows XP installation drive Hit R to repair this installation of Windows Wait for setup to complete and for your system to reboot Your copy of XP should now be repaired I would run Windows Update a few times after doing this as you will probably loose a bunch. Also, before doing this you could also try to startup with the last known good configuration, to do this please see below: Hit F8 continuously like you would to boot in safe mode Once you see the advanced startup options, scroll down to "Last known good configuration (your most recent settings that worked" and then hit enter If this solves your issue then you will not have to go through as much hassle Good luck!
