PLEASE HELP-Older laptop says windows cannot configure this wireless connection
Hi, I have one laptop running windows 7 working on a home wireless network fine. I also have an older laptop running windows xp home edition that works fine as a pc but cannot connect to the internet.I have taken it into a shop to get the pc cleaned but the guy in the shop said everything worked fine but he could not get it to connect to the internet and suggested it may be the network connection card. I am an extreme beginner with computers but have checked the microsoft site and the card is shown as compatable. The pc is a dell inspiron 5100 and the card is a broadcom truemobile 1180 internal 802.11b mini pci card.I cannot download anything to this pc as I cannot connect to the internet but was wondering if I can download someting to my windows 7 pc then copy the files to the windows xp pc to try to fix this .Any help or suggestions will stop me from pulling all my hair out well whats left anyway.1 person needs an answerI do too

The repair person probably meant that the hardware was bad. I'm assuming it was able to connect to the Internet wired but just not wirelessly. Please confirm this. If this is correct, then you can purchase a USB wireless adapter which will run on USB 1.1 (which is what your older machine probably has) and disable the built-in wireless card.MS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!
