PPTP connection lost when remotely logging in via RDP
I have set up a PPTP connection in Windows 7 client that is located remotely to connect to a VPN server, so I can administer the desktop remotely. This worked fine until recently when the VPN server was replaced, however the configuration remained the same.
So theoretically there is no change on the VPN server side.
I do not have this problem when connecting to XP machines. The user connects via PPTP, I then simply RDP right to their desktop. My problem is why did this stop working for 7, and not XP? I am assuming that part/all of the problem lies in that I can only
select "Save username and password.." for "Me Only", and not other users. When connecting via RDP, I use the same account that the user has logged into to connect via PPTP. But once the desktop begins to load, the PPTP connection drops.
I see no errors on the VPN server side, which is using pptpd in Linux.

order to get the answer effectively, it is recommended to post a new thread in
