PRINTUI.EXE Commandline to change the Printer Driver for an already installed Printer.
Hi there, we have a couple of Printers (Namely HP Laserjet Models 2200 and 2300) that only install into Windows7 using the device specific Printer Driver when connected via USB. However, these Printers can be printed to with the HP Universal Printer Driver, once you go to START - PRINTERS - Doubleklick the local Printer - Select Change Printer Settings, select the Advanced Tab - Select the HP Universal Printing PCL5 Driver from the Drop Down list. Close out of all the dialogues and you are using the Universal Printer Driver. We have a hard Application Requirement to utilize the Universal Priner Driver on all our devices that we can not work arounf. Our thought was to save a HP2200 and a HP2300 Configuration with the Universal Driver via Printui.exe and then via Startup / Login Script, redeploy that Configuration, if a HP2200 / HP2300 with Native Printer Drivers is found. This does not work. Command used to backup the Config: printui /Ss /n "HP Universal Printing PCL 5" /a "C:\tmp\HP2200_universalDRV.dat" Command used to restore the Config: printui /Sr /n "HP LaserJet 2200 Series PCL 5" /a "C:\TMP\HP2200_universalDRV.dat" g d Anyone ? Basically, I'm looking for the PRINTUI Command to change the Driver on a locally installed Printer to some other non OOB Driver already installed on the box. Thanks for Reading.
