Password entry when returning from sleep
I too have the problem on my Dell Inspiron 1520, Vista with SP1. When I return from sleep mode and start to enter my password, the first few keystrokes do not appear as the usual security dots. As soon as the first security dot appears I hit backspace several times then reenter the password. That works every time but is really annoying.

Bob It's likely just a 'focus' issue. Is the cursor blinking in the password box when that screen appears? Even if it is blinking there, try clicking in the box before you start typing the password. I have seensimilar behavior in several of the MSOffice 2007 applications, when using the 'Find' dialog box. Let us know the result. The cursor is blinking in the password box when the screen appears. If I restart the computer I also get a blinking cursor in the password box. On coming back from sleep, clicking in the box clears "Password" and I am able to proceed with my proper password. On a restart password prompt, it is not necessary to click on the box, entering the passwordimmediately clears the prompt and accepts my password as entered. I was expecting the password box to respond identically in both cases.

Bob It 'should' respond the same way in both cases, I'm not sure why it doesn't give focus to the password entry box when it resumes from sleep? Ronnie Vernon Microsoft MVP Windows Desktop Experience
