Does your machine have a COA sticker for any version of Windows?
If so, which version?Noel Paton | Nil Carborundum Illegitemi |

Hi,
I suggest you should buy a genuine copy of Windows 7, It's certainly worth it.
July 17th, 2012 4:41am
I suggest you install Linux (ubuntu or other) until you DO have the $90 or so needed to buy OEM version of Windows 7 Home Premium (available online from several vendors).
Or, if you have a mac with osX Lion, you can install OSX Lion on a PC from a thumb drive. I have done it and OSX Lion runs FANTASTIC on a PC, if you have the right hardware. google 'hackintosh' to find the procedures.
Of course this is just until you can afford Windows...

What you have is a machine built in 2008/9 which possibly shipped with Vista pre-installed.
Someone has installed a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate, using a hacker's Loader tool.
Because of this, whatever you do, you should reformat and reinstall, as it's impossible to be certain that the loader didn't also come with malware or backdoors.
Unfortunately the Activation exploit hides the data that would tell us whether your machine shipped with Windows installed or not.
Your best option is to contact Acer and order a set of Recovery Disks for your machine.
