Possible to make IPv4 the preferred protocol over IPv6 and toggle IPv6 on/off remotely?
Hi all, I am a noob, so do bear with me if I offends anyone with my questions, lack of writing skills or posting in the wrong place. Actually, I have 2 questions to ask. a bit of background My company had rolled out IPv6 on top of the existing IPv4 to everyone. So now, every client machines (win 7) have both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses. My questions are, 1. is it possible to setup win 7 so that it will first use IPv4 to communicate to its intended server, before falling to IPv6 if the search fails by IPv4? 2. Due to security consideration, can we toggle the IPv6 protocol on/off in win 7 remotely? maybe via GPO? I appreciate any advises anyone can shed on this matter. Thank you.

Hi, Based on my understanding, this is no way to use the IPv4 first if both of them are enabled simultaneously. But you may disable the IPv6 via modifying the registry.
