The First Question Of Troubleshooting: If the problem is new, what changed between the time things worked and the time they didn't?What kind of computer do you have? If a branded machine, reinstall any power management utilities by getting them from the computer mftr. Otherwise please give more information about your computer and the answer to the First Question.Help us help you:http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Tech_Support - See "How to Write a Post" sectionhttp://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/555375 - How to Ask a QuestionMS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!

This has happened on a new second lap-top, idle mainly for long times, so can't recall between time changes, thus puzzled as to why not now working. Not a branded machine - come with a cloned XP, as is the way here in Thailand! My MS trained friend dumped that and installed XP from 'older' lap-top. Feb 2009. Power Optiions worked, but doesn't now. Sorry not much help I guess, this answer. (Such a dummy!). Thanks.

I'm sorry but you will not be able to get support for a pirated Windows operating system in Microsoft forums. *Someone* must have made the laptop - HP, Dell, etc. Contact the laptop mftr. and purchase a recovery disc for it. This will have the correct drivers.MS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!
