Power schemes have disappeared !!!
Every single one of my power schemes in XP Home version have disappeared and I want to know how to restore/create/set them again. I work from a laptop and switch between Laptop scheme when on battery to Home Office scheme when plugged in at home but I haven't done anything to warrant the total disappearance of the power schemes. I'm very perplexed!!1 person got this answerI do too

First off, go to Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Restore and create a restore point before following the procedure outlined below.
Now, go to Start -> Run and enter regedit.exe in the Open box. Click OK.In the Registry Editor, click on the + signs in the left hand pane to navigate to the following location.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\PowerCfg\PowerPolicies
Under this registry key you should see 6 subkeys numbered 0 through 5. These represent the default power schemes that come with XP. Any subkeys numbered 6 or more represent power schemes created by the user. If you find any numbered 6 or more, right click on each one and select Delete from the menu. In the end you should only have the subkeys numbered 0 to 5 remaining under the PowerPolicies registry key.
Do the same for this registry key.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Controls Folder\PowerCfg\PowerPolicies

I have taken all the steps above, and I found that subkeys 2 and 4 are missing from the group numbered 0-5 (had only 0,1,3, 5)Where did I 'lose' number 2 and 4?
