Prevented opening files error when trying to change COM baud rate
Hi, I have a USB to Serial cable that I need to run at a higher baud rate. When I use the cmd "mode com4 baud:19200" I received a the Windows Security error "Your internet security settings prevented files from being opened". My Cmd window says adminstrator, I've tried lowering security levels using the sliders (both in internet security settings and turning off UAC). I'm running Windows 7x64 on an ASUS N50V laptop. Also, is there a better way to change the baud rate than through cmd line?

Hi, Firstly, please check if there are more detailed error messages in event viewer. Meanwhile, based on my research, please try the following: 1. Boot into Clean Boot Mode and test the issue again. 2. Reset Internet Explorer settings and see how it works. 3. Test the issue using another user account. Hope this helps. Thank you Jeremy. I'm sorry to have wasted your time. After trying again I realise that I had written "com4 baud=19200" instead of "mode com4 baud=192000". I shutdown the computer and used it without the cable plugged in and started it again at home and typed the right cmd and it displayed status data incl. baud = 192000. Thanks!

A second problem is that the serach function in explorer is returning false results. Searching with explorer on the main data computer (main sync for documents with the original laptop described above) to my NAS server Thecus 4100PRO and other folders shows no results for files that are there. I tried other folders too on the sync computer (not laptop with cable problem) with wrong search results. I deleted and rebuiled the index without progress and then I waited until the pause button stopped and restarted with still same problem. Thanks!
