Printing issue over network
So I have 2 printers hooked up to an XP machine. Both printers show up in my network but I can not print to either of them. They work perfectly from xp but my Vista and 7 machine will not print. any ideas?Windows 7 is the FIRST OS I was impressed with the first time I used it.

By your description you have a Network problem and not a Hardware Compatibility problem.Perhaps you would get a better response if you posted in the Windows 7 Networking forum.Iconnect my printers via ethernet to my router and I have found life to be much easier that way. With the printers on the networkyou don't need to leavethe computer on for others to access the printers.

This issue occurs if the on the Windows Vista and Windows 7 computers incorrect printer driver is loaded. I suggest that you remove the driver first. Then, try to find Windows Vista and Windows 7 compatible drivers, download and install the driver. Regarding how to reinstall and configure shared printers in Windows 7, please refer the following thread. Printer setup for Network Printers Issue For related steps in Windows Vista, please refer the following thread. Windows Vista FAQ 3 (Print, User Profile, Hardware, Windows Mail, MISC) If the above suggestions do not resolve the issue, please let us know the models of the printers. Also please let us know if file sharing works properly.Arthur Xie - MSFT
