I just activated my windows 8 OS. It had been working fine. But, lately I can't access "Change PC setting".

Not only that After i login a black screen welcomes me. Black screen means After lockscreen Neither desktop nor the startscreen is displayed. only access i can do is ctrl+alt+del.

i am writing this text from frns computer. I thought of reinstalling my OS but I have some important file on the drive OS is installed. HELP

Run Windows Update and install all updates.

In start, search for Action Center and check it and see if there is any message for update drivers or troubleshooting?

Press crl+alt+del. Check if you can get the task manager window

Inside task manager, click on File -> run new task -> type explorer.exe

Check if that gets you the desktop.

If this works, restart the computer and check again if it boots properly. Also better take backup before proceeding further, just to be on the safer side.

You need to boot into Safe Mode to uninstall and delete the  display adapter driver from Device Manager.Once done reboot and try to update the display adapter driver from the website of the manufacturer.
