Problem connecting to the internet via hardwired pc to wireless router
I just added a wireless router so that my son can use his XBOX live. My desktop is hard wired to the router and when he is on "live" I can not access the internet using my desktop. I have tested the connection by hardwiring a laptop to the router and that connects fine.We have done the "ping" test and find that some of the packets are being dropped. When he is not on live the internet connection is fine. Is there a "vista" setting that needs to be changed? I'm getting really frustrated and would appreciate any help I can get. Thanks!

Hi, Thank you for posting. At this time, please try the following to narrow down the issue: 1. Check if the desktop can ping the router and the XBOX when the issue occurs. You can also try to access the routers management website. 2. Try to update the NICs driver on the desktop computer. 3. Please go to Control Panel Network Connections, right click on your connection and choose Properties. (if you have multiple connections, please check the one you use and disable the unnecessary ones. ) 1) On the Network Tab of your Connection properties, please choose Internet Protocol Version 4 and click Properties. And then check if both of the IP Address and DNS are set to be delivered automatically. 2) If setting to obtain the IP Address and DNS automatically, please try to manually assign IP address, subnet mask, default gateway and the DNS settings referring to your routers settings to see if this works. Since the issue occurs with the XBOX, it is recommended that you contact our XBOX support regarding this.
