Problem creating permissions on Windows 7 machine
I have a Windows 7 machine that houses shared data for other users on a network. When applying permissions to "Everyone" on a file folder containing numerous subfolders, the system went through the folders list alphabetically, then stopped ona file folder
in the "Ws" with an error message.
I can access the contents of all folders up to that point from the other machines, but am denied access to any folders after that point. I tried setting permissions individually to those folders, but still cannot access.
The other machines are Window 7 as well.

What's the exact error message?
You may have to take ownership of that folder, its subfolders and files before you can change the permissions.

I don't recall the exact error message, and I cant make it go through the process a second time. I was applying permissions as the owner of the folder when this happened.

Hi,
I suggest you could try use SFC command to see if it can repair this issue:
How to use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or on
Windows 7
Meanwhile, I suggest you go to the event viewer to check if there is any useful information.
In addition, you could try system restore to get back to a previous good time.
Hope it helps.
