Problem with folder permissions
Hello, I am running windows seven and am having problems with my folders permissions. The other day I changed permissions for sharing so that everything in the shared folder was read only by everyone, and read only for my account, just so I didnt have the ability to delete anything over the network, just in case. However Ive lost all permissions to these folders, I cannot even delete them. When I click the share button under the sharing tab in the folders properties there are three listed users, Me, Everyone, and Unknown Contact which is now set to owner, and there is no way to change the unknown contacts permission level, and setting permissions to read and write for me and everyone does not work as the settings dont stay. Another thing, when I look in the security tab the uknown user shows upl as "Account Unknown(s-1-5-21-1979143703-2430391352-1339161115-1000)" The account unknows holds every permission for the folder and I cannot set any permissions under this tab as they are all greyed out. How do I restore the permissions to where I am the owner of the folder again?

i know you've probably already fixed this and this might not be the right answer but did you try setting permissions under the security tab?
