Problems On Netowrking between Vista & XP computer
I have problem on linking two computers which is Vista and XP. I have found that some related topic too, but non of them are useful to me.Here's my problem: My XP computer can now browse Vista computer by directly click "My Network Places" to get the list of computers which are in the network. I can easily found "PG1" in the network computer list. But my Vista computer cannot browse directly by clicking "Network" to get the list of computer on the network. ONLY if I browse by using command (e.g. \\PG\My Folder), then i jus can access the files/folders which are shared on the network.p/s: "PG" is the name of XP computer, and "PG1" is my Vista Computer nameSo, what have i try are:1. Disabling FIrewall(Windows)/Anti-Virus/InternetSecurity on both computers2. Installing "Link Layer Topology Discovery (LLTD) Responder (KB922120)"on XP PC3. Configured both computer in same workgroup. (I'm using workgroup not domain)4. Enable File Sharing and Network Discovery on Vista computer5. Customizing Network Location to "Location Type: Private" on Vista computersSo, Do you guys have any idea of it to let the Vista computer to view the computers on the network?

Hi, I suggest performing the following steps to troubleshoot the issue: 1. Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP on both machines:1) Open the Network Connections panel, right-click the Connection being used, select Properties.2) Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click Properties.3) Click Advanced button, click the WINS tab and select Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP.4) Click OK to exit, and check the result. 2. If the issue persists, on the Windows Vista machine, open a Command Prompt and type the following commands:net view \\PGnet view /domain:workgroupPlease let me know the results. Hope it helps.

I have the same issue. Vista machine has messed up network browser information. net view /domain:mydomain from the Vista machine will display the vista machine itself and the name of the domain controller. It will not display any other machines in the local network. net view \\xphost from the Vista machine will correctly display the shares available on \\xphost. And I can connect to \\xphost\ashare just fine. \\xphost is running the XP version of the Link Layer Topology Discovery protocol. \\xphost will not show up in the "Network" folder from the Vista machine. (Some other hosts on the local network do show up, however.) Both \\xphost and the \\vistamachine have "NetBIOS over TCP/IP" enabled in their TCP/IP properties. \\xphost is not running any firewall. How do I get the Vista machine to: 1) Have a proper network browse list (e.g. net view /domain:mydomain shows what other local hosts show)? 2) Have a fully propulated "Network" folder in Explorer? \\vistamachine is running the standard Vista firewall.
