Problems with Remote desktop - multiple monitor support
Hello, I have two machines running Win7 64bit. On the first (Ultimate N), I have two monitors, and I try to RDC into the second machine (W7 Pro). Even though I check the use all my monitors checkbox on the connection, I only get one monitor being used. I want to get the TDC session on both monitors. Thanks.

Hi Noam, Thanks for the post! “I only get one monitor being used”, do you mean it’s used as a single monitor? Or the other monitor is black screen? Because by default, RDP restricts the maximum resolution to 4096 X 2048 per monitor. I recommend you refer to this blog: Using Multiple Monitors in Remote Desktop Session. It includes the detailed information. Miya, Thanks. What I mean is that it only uses a single monitor. The screen resolution is not that high that the 4096x2048 limit would be passed. I just have 2 monitors, 1280x1024, one in landscape and one in portrait orientation. I saw in one post, that multi-monitor support is only available is the 'client' machine is Win7 Ultimate. I have a Win7 ultimate as the 'server' machine (the one I am sitting next to, and has the physical monitors). The other machine is a Win7 Pro. Is that the issue?

In Windows 7 Ultimate and Windows 7 Enterprise editions, Remote Desktop Connection supports the use of multiple high-resolution displays in a remote session. Remote Desktop Connection supports high-resolution displays that can be spanned across multiple monitors. The monitors must be the same resolution and aligned side by side. To have the remote computer's desktop span multiple monitors, type Mstsc /span at a command prompt.
