Could be due to a driver issue and checking for a newer version might resolve it. Probably an add-on that is misbehaving; try using Internet Explorer (No Add-ons) by typing it into the search bar and hitting enter. AuthenTec doesn't provide software to end-users so you'll have to contact the OEM.

I have a hp Pavilion Dv6-1150 ED. my advice would be to goto the HP Website and use the latest Vista 64bit drivers for Wifi, Lan, Cardreader, Finger Print Reader etc.I've been using them on the pavilion and its very stable.RegardsMr S

If you search the forums for SLEEP you will see that there is a problem with sleep mode in Windows 7. Avoid it until the issue is resolved. Are you using the 64 bit IE or x86? Fingerprint readers are not currently supported by Windows 7 so the drivers on Windows update aren't going to be any good for this, but you may be able to find drivers from the manufacturer.

I just bought a HP tx2z-1000 and it has an AuthenTec AES1610 which Windows Update found drivers for and installed (Windows 7 RC x64).

Thanks for the replies*Internet explorer works perfectly fine without any add on's.*Thanks for letting me know about the sleep modeBut* My fingerprint reader doesn't work, i got an update from theire homepage so the AES 1610 should work on Windows 7, but still doesn't and I can't find it on the device manager either..

The only thing I saw on their website pertaining to software was for the Windows 7 Beta:http://www.authentec.com/win7beta32.cfmhttp://www.authentec.com/win7beta64.cfmI didn't download those drivers, but instead used the drivers from Windows Update. Also, is there anything listed under Biometric Devices in Device Manager? Does Action -> Scan for hardware changes in Device Manager recognize the device?

Yes, those updates i tried, but no difference. No list of biometric devices either in the Device Manager or Control Panel\Hardware and Sound. And the Device Manager cannot recognize any new or different hardware..

Not sure if we've covered this, but have you installed this driver using Windows Vista compatibility?

Yes, and that either didn't work, so i have uninstalled it..

Don't install the HP drivers or DigitalPersona software; if you do, uninstall softwareand uninstall/delete the driver from Device Manager, if available, and install from Windows Update.
