Product Key
I'm unfamilar with the activiation requirements for copies of Windows 7, but currently I have Windows 7 Professional (64-bit) installed on my machine, but I'm having some driver conflicts for some of my hardware. (Yes, it is a 64-bit driver) I was to do some hardware/software tests to see if certain application are having problems with 64-bit. Can I uninstall the OS and reinstall 32-bit using the same key with no issues? Granted, if thats not the problem, I will be switching back to 64-bit again, but I was wondering how the same activation key works between two different versions of Windows?

I’ve tested this on Windows 7 32-bit and 64-bit and it works: 1. In a Run window (Windows Logo key+R), type slmgr.vbs -upk and press Enter. This releases the product key for use elsewhere and produces a permanent ‘Windows is not genuine’ message on the Desktop. 2. Format the partition and reinstall the 32-bit version and let it activate over the internet. 3. When you have finished testing drivers on the 32-bit version, repeat from (1) above to go back to 64-bit.

There is no need to activate to test drivers you can use an unactivated installation for that, using the Default Key (which cannot be activated) you can therefore use a side-by-side Dual Boot for it, without losing your current install.
