Property Loss message and dropped share folders on startup
Over the last 3 days I am now being prompted by a Property Loss dialog when attempting to copy certain files from an external HDD to a USB on Windows 7. It is not the NTFS to FAT issue, as this has only started occurring. As part of my usual routine I have done this since installing Windows 7 using the same drives with no issue. This does not happen from another external HDD of the same model and of the same file vintage. Also, which may be related, now if I restart Win7, the local folders I share loose the 'Share this folder' under Advanced Sharing. I wonder if this is a result of a recent security patch? Thanks in advance for any insight... Cheers

Hi Alex Thanks for your response (apologies I haven't been at my work PC for a while). I found the solution to the Share the Folder issue. There seemed to be some artifact registry settings that caused the permissions to dropout (from memory these were under HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\LanmanServer\Shares). I removed the xHDDs, rebooted checked this registry location and deleted those that aren't supposed to be there. When I reconnected these and reset the permissions on the Share Folders, rebooted, then checked the permissions were retained. In regard to the 'Property Loss' dialog box, it is related to the NTFS/FAT32 known copy messages that have been discussed elsewhere. I'm not sure why a handful of files decided to prompt me with this dialog box, but after copying them to a FAT formatted drive, then back to NTFS, the dialog box was no longer popping up on file copy. Thanks Alex for your time and suggestions... Cheers TroySch
