I actually now prefer the new bar after using it for a while. I was at first displeased when I would click on a shortcut to a text file and rather than the text file opening the notepad program open instead witha blank "untitled document"but since i use notepad frequently to creat new documents I find it more conveniant and right click on it to access my shortcuts to several .txt documents which saves a great deal of space on the taskbar.

Guided Help: Enable the Quick Launch bar in Windows 7http://support.microsoft.com/kb/975784 Meanwhile I highly recommend to have a test on "Pin items to Taskbar" and "Pin items to Jumplist". I think it is much better and it can help save the space on Taskbar.

I still wish MS would shrink the size of the space allocated to icons when you use small icons on the Taskbar. Look at the difference between the left and right sides of the Taskbar. Sure is a lot of wasted space. Rich

Personally I will use large icons and drag the Taskbar to 2 lines. For Notification area, I will hide some of them. We can hide icons by click the little triangle --- Customize.Meanwhile I will save the concern and report it to see if there is any upgrade in future. Thanks for it.

This was the answer I was looking for as well. I like both the 'pin/unpin' AND the quick launch. Both are useful to me.
