RC Action Center doesn't like Avast Home
Although I did not have any problems with Avast recognition by Windows 7 beta, there seems to be a problem with the RC. I've got this message from the Action Center claiming there is no antivirus on the computer and suggesting me to use one of the providers supplied on the windows 7 page http://www.microsoft.com/windows/antivirus-partners/windows-7.aspxThis is all very nice, but numerous threads have been filled on this site with problems regarding the aforementionned programs. I'm happy with Avast (behind a hardware firewall) and want to keep it. I can easily turn off the notification (network at home is always in paranoid mode), but that doesn't solve the problem. In the "good old days" of XP there was the possibility to erase the repository and reboot in order to have the database rebuilt, in Vista you just shut off Security Center and Windows Management, and reboot (once or twice), but now, with 7, what am I to do?Rem

I don't know if I would be happier if more people had the "problem" I have. Anyway I'm on the x64 version. The "funny" part is that the x64 beta recognized the thing and was happy with it.Thanx for the input though.Rem

You are welcome. I have NOD32 4.0 on my x64 machine and I haven't tried AVAST on it yet.Paul

UPDATEI found the problem. At least this is what did the trick on my computer.Enter a session using the administrator account in order to run the setup. Once the install is completed you can close that session and use your normal user account. Thus you avoid the RPC service failure as well as the recognition of the software. Hoping this may help other people.RegardsRem
