RDP only works after reconnecting to the VPN the second time
Most of the time our VPN works perfectly, but sporadically users must reconnect to the VPN in order to use Remote Desktop. That is that the user can log on to the VPN and access some things like network drives but not other functions like RDP. If they disconnect then reconnect to the VPN, poof, everything works fine. It doesn't matter if it is minutes or hours into the VPN connection, it still requires the reconnect. It seems like it is always on the second attempt to the point this ticket's nick name is "Second time's a charm". We're using RRAS in SBS 2008 and the problem has happened to multiple users attempting to VPN from XP and Win7 machines. We have replaced switches (now using Dell Powerconnects) and the router (now using Cisco RV042) and the problem persists. Any suggestions or answers are greatly appreciated.

Hi, I suggest you can try to disable firewall and check the router settings to test the issue. In addition, since this issue occurred on Windows XP and Windows 7 machines, it is recommended to post a new question in Small Business Server forum for further discussion. The reason why we recommend posting appropriately is you will get the most qualified pool of respondents, and other partners who read the forums regularly can either share their knowledge or learn from your interaction with us. Thank you for your understanding. Hope this helps. Vincent Wang TechNet Community Support
