RSAT won't install on Win 8.1 Standard
I am trying to install RSAT on Windows 8.1 Standard x64.  I am not receiving the error message I have seen on other posts.  Rather, I am getting "The update is not applicable to your computer."  I haven't found anything saying RSAT can only be installed on 8.1 Pro.  Is that the case, or why will it not install?  I am an administrator on the machine.

Howdy-

I am having the exact same problem.  Fresh install and update to Windows 8.1 build 9600.  Located in US, and have US English installed.  I need to control some servers.  Please help ASAP - perhaps one of the later updates (to 9600) broke RSAT?

To all concerned-

I found another thread dealing with a similar problem on Vista.  I tried the suggested workaround, and lo and behold, it worked on Windows 8.1 standard edition build 9600.  Here is the workaround (credit to the original poster)

I found an workarround:

1. Extract the contents of the .MSU file using the following command:
'expand -f:* "Vista 32-bit.msu" C:\Temp'
This extracted the msu file and we got the .CAB file.

2. Installed the .CAB file using package manager utility. We used the following
command:
'pkgmgr.exe /ip /m:"path\package_name.CAB"'

Finally the RSAT is installed. MS thanx for nothing...

I followed the same instructions but received an error.  So I tried the following DISM command on the CAB file:

     dism.exe /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath:windows8.1-KB2693643-x64.cab

And it looks like it worked.  When I tried the DISM command on the MSU, it said that /Online doesn't support MSU files.
