Random but Frequent Wireless Disconnects
This question is for a friend who is very busy at the moment so I will try to provide all information I know.My friend is staying at numerous hotels which offer wireless internet and at his current location he gets 70% signal strength. However his internet will constantly drop off completely then right after that reconnect. We are trying to play WoW (though its whole internet not just WoW) and it will do it so fast that he wont even be booted, but instead receive a huge lag spike. To fix this problem we have tried numerous things offered by the googling I have done.1) He disabled all other network items to ensure those arn't causing issues.2) We found a strongly backed post about disabling the IP6 and enabling IP4 instead 3) Downloaded a wireless fix from windows downloads that was said by forums goers to fix it here's the link to the download <http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=eb958617-b3d3-42cf-a434-87ad81259fc6&DisplayLang=en>4) Found a "Vista Anti Lag" download some said fixed their issues, again here's link <http://www.codecase.de/index.php/download-val>5) Configured the wirless to obtain the DNS and IP automaticallyWith all this done I think he remains online randomly for 1-2 min before a DC I don't know much about his computer so I'll say what I know (I will respond back once he emails me specifics about it) I know its a Sager Laptop well it weighs 23lbs so I hardly consider it Laptop worthy, anyway, he is running Windows Vista Premium. When he was visiting me he got on my network via lan cable and never once had an issue. We didn't try my wireless with his computer because no reason to, we assumed his frequent wireless issues were a resault of our bad wireless on this base.At this point were quite annoyed and are willing to try any tweaks to fix this. So any suggestions are more than welcome and if you need specifi details please ask. I did ask him for his computer model and what his wireless was, be it internal or external, assuming internal.Lastly I did email him telling him to ensure he has the latest drivers installed form the makers of his wirelss device.Sorry for long post thanks for any help!!
