Random lag in games on Windows 7
Computer Specs: OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit 5GB RAM Processor: AMD Athlon II X2 215 2.70 GHz Model: HP p6313w The lag will last 5 to 15 minutes and I have tried a number of things to try to fix it.(Registry, WLAN, and other) It has been around for like a couple months and is starting to bug me. Any help would be helpful. ;)

Could be a ISP problem too. Other causes include overheating which causes throttling. A better PSU would be helpful as would a better chassis. Inaugurated! That you for your support for my 2010 MVP! Developer | Windows IT | Chess | Economics | Hardcore Games | Vegan Advocate | PC Reviews

How would I check if it was an ISP problem

ping and tracert are two console programs I use to check network performance ping www.whitehouse.gov tracert www.reuters.com Change the domains to the desired ones for performance testing. I noticed the free Alien Swarm includes pung testing to see how much lag there is on the network. Inaugurated! That you for your support for my 2010 MVP! The average ping is usually 74
January 12th, 2011 5:55pm

That is reasonably good. So this makes be speculate the CPU or GPU are overheating. GPU-Z has monitors to detect overheated video cards, CPUID has the ability to monitor the CPU. Inaugurated! I dont know how to check the temp with CPUID, but GPU-Z says the average temp of my video card is 97.8.

Your video card is definitely too hot. Your PSU is another issue, the supplied model is not very efficient. A better PSU has a better fan which would help considerably. The chassis is another weak point, but a good chassis can get expensive Inaugurated! That you for your support for my 2010 MVP! Make extra sure there is at least 40A on the 12V circuit. This way you will be sure to have a modern model with ATX 2.0 compliant power. Inaugurated! That you for your support for my 2010 MVP! Developer | Windows IT | Chess | Economics | Hardcore Games | Vegan Advocate | PC Reviews
