Receiving Windows 7 PC cannot save Ad-hoc network??
I have created a Ad hoc network for sharing my internet connection.
I have been using Windows 7 since launch on the host pc.
The client PC earliear had Windows Vista(The PC that connects to the ad hoc network) Under Vista I had saved the network so it shouldnt ask for a password everytme.
Now I have upgraded the client PC to Windows 7 and every time I connect to the ad hoc network I have to enter the password. It is simply not giving an option to save it like Vista had.

Please note I am talking about the client PC..the one that is at the receiving end.
On my host PC I have saved the ad hoc network. On my client PC I am unable to.
These 2 links are useless for me

THIS IS WHAT IS NOT THERE ON WINDOWS 7
Tell your friends
If you saved your ad hoc network and you want your friends to connect to it (to play those games!), here’s how they can do it:
Click the Start button
, click Connect To , click the network you want to join, and then click
Connect .
On the Successfully connected to <network name> page, if you want to connect to this network again later, click the
Save this network check box, and then click Close . (Ad hoc networks normally disappear after you disconnect from them.

Hi,
Thanks for the post!
An ad hot network is a temporary connection, it’s automatically deleted after all users disconnect from the network or when the person who set
up the network disconnects and goes out of range of the other users of the network, unless you choose to make it a permanent network when you create it.
To make it a permanent network, when you create an ad-hoc network, please check “Save this network” in the “Give your network a name
and choose security options” window.
Refer to:

I think you overlooked the content I posted in my question. I have already written the link that you posted is useless because the tell your friends part works only under Vista.

The ad-hoc network is a temporary connection.
My suggestion is that when you create this network, please select “Save this network”.

Miya
