Recursive APP DATA folder problem leads to excessively long file paths
For some strange reason after installing older 32 bit programs into win 7 I am getting a problem where endless loops to the USERS APPLICATION DATA area will result in file paths that are too long for the system to handle. This also occurs within the DOCUMENTS and SETTINGS area which I guess is included only for system compatability with older Windows. I have been able to stop this endless recursion by deleting offensive folders in the path which usually appear with an ICON of a folder with an arrow on it. But i do not recommend others to do this since i do not know how this will affect normal system operation. I have lost my ability to choose NORMAL STARTUP within MSCONFIG since doing this. Its just so complex to me i am not sure what is the right course of action to eliminate the endless recursion problem. Perhaps one of you can tell me whats going on and how to fix it ???

Hi, can you tell me which older 32 bit programs did you install? Please check the programs are compatible with Window 7 or not: Windows 7 Compatibility Center Or you can use Windows XP Mode to see if the same issue appears: Install and use Windows XP Mode in Windows 7 And you said you lost your ability to choose NORMAL STARTUP within MSCONFIG, please try to run MSCONFIG as an administrator to see if you can set the Startup or not. Hope it helps. Regards, Leo HuangPlease remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
