Recycle bin from network drive?

Hi,

I have a number of mapped network shares. I recently used a free utility to find and delete some files on the network. It didn't actually do what I wanted it to do but it did delete a couple of empty folders from the drive. I uninstalled the program and forgot about it.

What I didn't realise was that the program put the folders in the recycle bin and as this is from a network share it wont let me restore or empty the files. It comes up with the message 'location not available'. It also cancels the empty command which means I can no longer empty another files out of the bin without manually deleting them.

Does anyone know how to get rid of this problem?

Hello James Lucas UK,

Based on my test, if I delete the file or the folder in mapped network shares, they will be permanently deleted. They wont exist in the Recycle bin.

What free utility do you use?
Please check the setting in the utility.

I can't remember, thats's half the problem.

This doesn't actually help as it doesn't actually answer the question.

Hello James Lucas UK,

If you use the third-party software to delete the file, it is recommended to contact the software support.

Due to my test, if I delete the file or the folder in mapped network shares, they will be permanently deleted. They wont exist in the Recycle bin.

I managed to get it sorted in the end. I disconnected all the mapped drives, emptied then recycle bin. Logged off the system then back on again before remapping the drives and seems to have done the trick.
