Remote Assistance required bandwidth
What is the required bandwidth in order to be able to run Remote Assistance on a Windows XP Professional with sp2? Is it possible to run over 3G, GPRS or GSM? I need to establish a secure connection eg vpn-channel and then share the control of the remote desktop.1 person got this answerI do too

I don't know if there is a set limit but I can tell you that I routinely support a client remotely (using TeamViewer) whose Internet connection is an AT&T 3G card. We don't have any problems. I have a fast cable Internet connection on my side. Since the 3G connection (can't speak for the others since have no experience with them) can vary so much depending on location, you might just have to try it and see how it goes. Sorry I can't be more precise but maybe someone else will have the exact answer for you.MS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!

Thanks,Why do you use TeamViewer? If both computers have the same XP installed: Are there benefits to use TeamViewer instead of Remote Assisance?

Yes, lots of benefits. You don't need to open ports in a firewall, you don't need to deal with sending an email invitation (which doesn't always work and can be complicated for the person who needs help), you don't need to change any settings on the remote computer, you don't need to deal with anything that has been set on a router, and you don't need to deal with corporate edge security. The remote user is usually very limited in their computer skills and all they have to do is double-click on the TeamViewer icon. Not meaning to belittle any of the dear people I help, but even this is difficult for some of them. TeamViewer is free for personal use. If you need a corporate solution, there are paid versions. Another good company which offers this type of service is GoToMyPC.MS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!

HiTo add to the Why TeanViewer.TeamViewer is actually a version of UltraVNC adapted as part of TeamViewer online server mitigation. Which (as explained above by Malkeleah) make very easy to use.UltraVNC is the most flexible remote control application and can do more than any other remote application (UltraVNC is also free).
