Remote Assistance without user intervention
We use remote assistance on our windows 7 client. It's working fine. But sometimes i need to control a client without the need for a user to aprove. I found the following link that might solved this issue: http://community.spiceworks.com/how_to/show/1567 But the thing is, on the few windows 7 clients i checked, i'm missing the helpctr\...\...\ folder tree. I searched for the helpeeaccept.htm and TakeControlMsgs.htm file, but could not find thm So this seems to be for windows XP. Is there a similar solution for Windows 7?? Thanks

Hi, Based on my understanding, Remote Assistance must need user's approval on Windows 7. This is by design. the tech support use a version of log me in hamachi. if there is a way to remote controll someones comp without permission this would be a huge security issue. though you can still access said computer if you enter both user name and his or her password over the net through their router.

I'm aware of the security issues. I work at a law firm, and it is policy here that users have to give permission for remote control. If a user gave me permission, but went to a meeting for a few hours, and i have to reboot the desktop, i have a problem. The user things that i will be finished wen he is back. I'm in the netherlands, and we have a a little office in NewYork. There is a 6 hours time diffrence. Because of the time diffrence we ask the users if we can access their desktop without permission if they are not in the office. Most of the time it's no problem. We did this before with SMS 2003 remote control. We had a script to disable the permission, and another script to enable it again. But we are migrating to Window 7 and SCCM 2007 and would like to use RA. We do use remote desktop(mstsc) in most of these cases. But is it sometimes happen that the user gest back at his desk, and thinks that the desktop is locked, logon and i loose the connection, and bla bla.. With RA the users sees i'm still busy on his desktop.. I know that there are a few (scripting) guru's out there that can crack this.. :-)

Hi, I am sorry. For Remote Assistance, there is not any way to disable this as I said above. Since this is by design, I wanna ask your permission to mark this thread. If you wanna find a script for a workround, maybe you may try to post a new thread at http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/ITCG/threads/ for help. Juke Chou TechNet Community Support

If i understand your question properly you are trying to change the behaviour of SCCM client which settings are stored in registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SMS\Client\Client Components\Remote Control Every time the client does policy refresh which is by default every 60 min this settings will get refreshed.
