Remote Desktop Connection with my main User
Hi,
I've set up remote desktop on my work computer and I try to access it with my home computer. Both computers running WIndows 7 sp 1.
When I try to grant access to the main user on my work comptuter through the remote desktop settings, it seems as if Windows cannot recognize the current user. It recognizes the Administrator user ("Administrator") and I can log in with it, but not my main
user that I want to connect with...
When I try to connect, I can connect with adminisrator, but the credentials for my main user are not working and I have to enter other credentials.
Anyone knows what I can do to solve this issue?
Thanks a lot.

You need to allow that main user to connect remotely when you enabled remote desktop feature on work computer, if not it won't work for that main user. Feel free to check out this
Windows 7 remote desktop article to get more ideas.
Hope this helps.

Hi Dawooddoe,
Thank you for the reply.
I've done exactly what the article said. I can log in with any user EXCEPT the main one and I don't know why.
When I try to add it to the list of authorized users, it doesn't find it.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
thanks!
Dan

Hi Dan,
Is this main user belong to the Remote Desktop User group? If not, you need to manually add it. It seems the user doesn't have enough permission.

Miya

Hi and thank you.
The problem was that the username was indeed Dan but the user login name was another: "USER". (Is there a way to change the user login name? I don't like this name...)
In any case - once I tried to enter with USER it worked fine.
Thanks a lot for your help!

Hi Dan,
Because the name in Remote Desktop Users group is USER, therefore, it works fine.
Please click Start, input lusrmgr.msc in the search box then press ENTER.
On the left pane, click Groups. On the right pane, double-click Remote Desktop Users. Then click "Add". Add your Dan account to the group.
