Resolution changes after sleep - Email app disappears
When Windows 7 (RTM) wakes up from sleep, my resolution changes on my dual monitor setup. It is always the second monitor. The second monitor displays in 1024 x 768 resolution and I have it set at 1680 x 1050. My other monitor is set at 1920 x 1080. Also when this happens my email disappears and I have to do "windows/right arrow" key to get it back. But lately, with Windows Live Mail, even that is not working. I have to reboot to get my email back. And it is off screen when I restart and have to do the "windows/right arrow" key. So far this is working. It is really aggravating. Sleep always causes problems. Always at some point! Even with other OS's. Why can't Microsoft fix their sleep problems? Is there a fix for this (besides turning off sleep)? My video card is new and is a Radeon HD 4350. I have posted about this before with Windows 7 RC. Thanks for any help.

To those that might be interested in this thread: I updated my HD 4350 driver and that seems to have solved the problem with the resolution changing after waking up from sleep. At times when waking from sleep, my resolution has changed, but the screen always darkens and the correct resolution comes on. The email problem described above (off screen when waking from sleep) is still happening though. As well as other apps. I hope Radeon, or whoever, reads this forum. Or MS reports it to them.

Hi Therewere several well documented bugs in the Windows 7 RC build associated with this issue. The bug appears when a hardware/software component fails to re-initialize properlywhen the system resumes from Sleep or Hibernation or will not enter the suspend state. These bugswas seenon specific systems that havecombinations of certain hardware/software installed. We are currently evaluating the RTM build to see if these particular problems have been resolved. See the following link for a list of other threads hereon this topic and some fixes/workarounds that have been posted. Sleep/Hibernate Issues - Microsoft TechNet Forums SearchUpdated: Some users have reported that this bug still exists, to some extent,in the RTM build. Work on this continues and hopefully will be resolved soon. Be sure to check Windows Update often and look for compatibility updates. This particular bug has been tough to squash because it was associated with several different Bios/hardware/driver combinations. It's recommended that you go through the system and check for updates to all of the drivers/firmware for all of the hardware components, starting with the BIOS. Hope this helps.Thank You for testing Windows 7 Ronnie Vernon MVP
