Restarting problem in win7 for Acer Aspire 4710 Laptop
I am running win7 on Acer Aspire 4710 Laptop. All drivers and bios of my laptop is up-to-date but I have a problem with win7: when I hibernate or sleep my laptop and then resume it and then I try to restart the laptop,win7 turn my laptop off and then turn it on but the Bios does not load hardware and the display does not show anything (does not show Acer Bios Logo) and laptop does not boot OS. After 3 second my laptop restart again and in this time bios loads hardware(show Acer Bios Logo) and boot the OS. this problem occurs only when I sleep or hibernate my laptop and resume it from hibernate or sleep and then restart it. If I turn on my laptop and do not hibernate or sleep it, it will restart correctly and without any problem. in win XP I did not have such this problem. what can I do for solving this problem?

Hi,You may happen to disable Data Extension Prevention (DEP) in BIOS or in the operating system. Or the system is configured to enter hibernation or to enter hybrid sleep mode when the power button is pressed. I recommend you to apply update 974431.Best RegardsDale

hi i applyed update kB974431 and choose "Turn on DEP for essential windows programs and services only" in performance options dialog (there is no option in BIOS for DEP in my laptop) but the problem NOT solved yet. I found that when i resume from sleep or hibernate,win7 adds the following "Error" log in to the Event viewer and in "Event Viewer>Applications And services Logs>Microsoft>windows>Diagonestics-Performance>operational" section. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Event 300,Diagnostics-Performance General Windows has resumed from standby: Standby Duration : 11518ms Standby Incident Time (UTC) : 2009-11-12T11:00:12.435423000Z Resume Duration : 900ms Resume Incident Time (UTC) : 2009-11-12T11:03:40.126822000Z IsDegradation : false Details - System - Provider [ Name] Microsoft-Windows-Diagnostics-Performance [ Guid] {CFC18EC0-96B1-4EBA-961B-622CAEE05B0A} EventID 300 Version 1 Level 2 Task 4003 Opcode 36 Keywords 0x8000000000010000 - TimeCreated [ SystemTime] 2009-11-12T10:41:52.745242900Z EventRecordID 722 - Correlation [ ActivityID] {847BD8AC-69D7-0001-B07D-FFD60963CA01} - Execution [ ProcessID] 1488 [ ThreadID] 3332 Channel Microsoft-Windows-Diagnostics-Performance/Operational Computer Acer4710 - Security [ UserID] S-1-5-19 - EventData StandbyTsVersion 1 StandbyAppCount 16 StandbyServicesCount 16 StandbyDevicesCount 158 StandbyStartTime 2009-11-12T11:00:12.435423000Z StandbyEndTime 2009-11-12T11:00:23.953423000Z StandbySuspendTotal 11518 StandbySuspendTotalChange 0 StandbySuspendQueryApps 0 StandbySuspendQueryAppsChange 0 StandbySuspendQueryServices 0 StandbySuspendQueryServicesChange 0 StandbySuspendApps 957 StandbySuspendAppsChange 0 StandbySuspendServices 19 StandbySuspendServicesChange 0 StandbySuspendShowUI 0 StandbySuspendShowUIChange 0 StandbySuspendSuperfetchPageIn 5036 StandbySuspendSuperfetchPageInChange 0 StandbySuspendWinlogon 4187 StandbySuspendWinlogonChange 1870 StandbySuspendLockPageableSections 0 StandbySuspendLockPageableSectionsChange 0 StandbySuspendPreSleepCallbacks 0 StandbySuspendPreSleepCallbacksChange 0 StandbySuspendSwapInWorkerThreads 1 StandbySuspendSwapInWorkerThreadsChange 0 StandbySuspendQueryDevices 2 StandbySuspendQueryDevicesChange 0 StandbySuspendFlushVolumes 0 StandbySuspendFlushVolumesChange 0 StandbySuspendSuspendDevices 1312 StandbySuspendSuspendDevicesChange 0 StandbySuspendHibernateWrite 0 StandbySuspendHibernateWriteChange 0 ResumeStartTime 2009-11-12T11:03:40.126822000Z ResumeEndTime 2009-11-12T11:03:40.642249500Z StandbyResumeTotal 900 StandbyResumeTotalChange 0 StandbyResumeHibernateRead 0 StandbyResumeHibernateReadChange 0 StandbyResumeS3BiosInitTime 385 StandbyResumeS3BiosInitTimeChange 0 StandbyResumeResumeDevices 515 StandbyResumeResumeDevicesChange 0 StandbyRootCauseDegradationGradual 0 StandbyRootCauseImprovementGradual 0 StandbyRootCauseDegradationStep 0 StandbyRootCauseImprovementStep 0 StandbyIsDegradation false StandbyIsTroubleshooterLaunched true StandbyIsRootCauseIdentified false --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- and refer me to the following link : http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp?ProdName=Microsoft%C2%AE+Windows%C2%AE+Operating+System&ProdVer=6.1.7600.16385&EvtID=300&EvtSrc=Microsoft-Windows-Diagnostics-Performance&LCID=1033 i found nothing in this link! what is the solution of this problem? Please help me.Thanks

hi I found a conflict between these two devices in my laptop and only in win 7: IEEE 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller(Hardware ID:PCI\VEN_1217&DEV_00F7&SUBSYS_00F71217&REV_02) Driver Provider:Microsoft,Driver Date:2006-06-21,Driver Version:6.1.7600.16385,Digital Signer:Microsoft Windows O2Micro Integrated MS/MSPRO Controller(Hardware ID:PCI\VEN_1217&DEV_7130&SUBSYS_012F1025&REV_01) Driver Provider:O2Micro,Driver Date:2005-11-14,Driver Version:1.0.2.23,Digital Signer:Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publisher according to devices hardwareIDs,manufacurer of these two devicse is O2Micro. i installed the latest drivers that microsoft provided for these two devices in win 7, and in my laptop both of these devices use IRQ 0x00000016(22) and this conflict causes problem in restarting my laptop after resuming from sleep or hibernate, because when i disable IEEE 1394,i can restart the laptop correctly. Now i want to know is there any way that microsoft check these two device drivers for conflict and solving my problem? If no,what can i do?
