Restore System Image from Mechanical Hard Drive to SSD OK?
At some point, I intend to get an SSD. I plan on doing a full backup (i.e., system image) of my computer (while it's using a standard mechanical drive) via Backup and Restore and then restoring that image after swapping the mechanical drive for an SSD. Is that reasonable? Will Windows 7 recognize the change and do things like turn off disk defragmentation, Superfetch, ReadyBoost, and boot and application launch prefetching? Or, are those things done only during a new install?

Hi,Based on my experience, you need to install Operating System on SSD first, then restore from the system image to get personal files and system settings. By default, disk defragmentation, Superfetch, ReadyBoost are disabledduring the Operating System installation on SSD.For more questions about SSD, I would like to share the following website with you.Support and Q&A for Solid-State DrivesBest Regards.Dale Qiao
