Restricting Printer Access
I want to be able to restrict who can access (or see even) a printer on our home network. Is this possible? As it's a home network, there is no domain/central server. The computer with the printer is running Win 7 Home Premium.
Printer is HP Photosmart.

Open Control Panel -> Devices and Printers, right click the printer and choose Printer Properties. There are two tabs here that applies to this case: Sharing and Security.
To make the printer available only to the local computer, uncheck "Share this printer" on the Sharing tab.
To set other rights go to the Security tab. Remove Everyone from the list of rights and add whoever you want to be able to use the printer.

If each one have a special username and password, it can be realized. The solution is creating these user names with the exact passwords on your printer server computer. Then turn on Password Protected Sharing. After doing that, configure the printer sharing
permissions. Allow specified users to access and deny all other users. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.
