Retrieving files
I recently set my laptop back to the original factory settings without saving my files. Now I really need to get some files back from microsoft word. my laptop uses windows 7, is there any way I can get my info back. Thanks

Hi Aussiegirl2, It's not really a good scenario - as far as the operating system is concerned your files no longer exist. However, it may be possible to use a program such as Recuva (http://www.piriform.com/recuva) to recover your files if the areas where they were stored on the hard drive haven't been overwritten. It will take a long time for it to scan your whole hard drive for what it can salvage, but you may be fortunate! You'll want to recover the files to an external drive or USB stick to minimise the risk of further damaging other files from your pre-restored system. Don't use your laptop for anything else until you have recovered what you can or you run the risk of overwriting the data of any files that are recoverable. I hope you are successful.Steve

restoring the system you don't your personal data it simply resets the systems files. if any other causes you lost files then check in "Recycle Bin" else run a recovery program.
